Making Your Wardrobe Work For You - Part One Outerwear

We cannot wait for Spring and the arrival of some warmer weather and brighter skies - so whilst the thought of wearing sandals without socks still seems a long ways off - we thought we would get a head start by really interrogating what the key items in your wardrobe are. First and foremost we want to think about the items we wear the most and any gaps that would make getting dressed easier - at Biscuit we don't care for fast fashion and 'trend' pieces. So whilst items may fall under that term, ultimately we are looking to acquire pieces that we love - those key items that make us feel fantastic and bring a smile to our faces. So...where do we start?

Outerwear

It may be the last item we put on but should it really be an afterthought when the weather remains so unpredictable? We don't think so, especially when its often the only part of an outfit that is seen! So we have chosen 4 of our favourites for Spring dressing - perfect for numerous occasions, from work to weekend errands and coffee dates.

The Trench Coat

The trusty mac or trench coat remains a constant style and wardrobe staple - a failsafe, the trench easily smartens up any outfit with little effort. Perfect for Spring's often drizzly weather, we love it for the office as much as we love it thrown over a basic co-ord when running out for a coffee! Here are two ways we would style them now-

The Quilted Jacket

Offering the perfect balance of style and practicality, a quilted jacket is our must-have spring wardrobe staple. Comfortable as well as functional, these warm layers are ideal for errand running, trips to the gym and dog walking. We like them dressed down for lazy weekend walks over loose denim and leisure wear.

The Cotton Quilt Jacket

Unique, colourful, and offering endless layering potential, we love a cotton quilt jacket at Biscuit. From block colours to heavy patterns, this is a simple item that makes a massive impact to your overall look. Making an impact, we like to keep everything else neutral. From simple streamline denim to sleek tailoring, here's how we would style it...

The Classic Denim Jacket

Whether throwing it on over a dress or layering beneath a wool coat, a good quality denim jacket is always a useful item to have - particularly in Spring. A good wash and fit is essential and we advise considering this when making your purchase - we tend to stick to a lighter wash and slightly relaxed fit - but it is completely up to the wearer. Here's how we would style a good denim jacket-
