Everyone Is Talking About : The Traitors, Of Course!
the traitors proves yet again that style inspo is never far!
Whilst many look forward to a fresh start and dusting off the cobwebs of the year before, January for us is all about delving into a good book or drama! Lucky for us, The Traitors Series 3 served as much welcome entertainment on January 1st. And with it, Claudia Winkleman in her trademark highland-fling finery!
Amongst the games and treachery, a huge draw for us are the outfits presenter Claudia Winkleman wears with the help of stylist Sinead McKeefry. From floor length Saint Laurent coats to classic tweeds and checks paired with slouchy knitwear, this years The Traitors looks are some of the best!
Not only in-keeping with the location - The Traitors is filmed in Ardross Castle, a 19th Century Castle north of Inverness, Scotland - the outfits perfectly fit the cosy and layered-up aesthetic we're all going for in January!
Deep, earthy tones - much like previous seasons - play a major role. But so too does texture, particularly with the use of heavy wools, Scottish tweeds and knitwear. We also love the dark, gothic elements which mirror the premise of the show. Here are our favourite The Traitors look so far...
A Moment for Le Kilt
Having long been popular with the street-style set from New York to Copenhagen and beyond, Le Kilt have cemented their place as a cult brand, and although kilts themselves have enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence over the years, for Scottish founder Samantha McCoach, they have always been a part of her heritage.
McCoach's grandmother was a kilt-maker who made many kilts for her over the years, from childhood onwards. From here the idea was born and whilst Le Kilt (named after a popular London nightclub in the 80s) started as a small brand selling direct to customer, it was soon stocked everywhere from Selfridges to Matches.
We have seen not one but two kilts on this season of The Traitors from Le Kilt. A grey Prince of Wales check and a deep black midi kilt. The former was paired with a Johnstons of Elgin crewneck knit, whilst the latter was matched with a lambswool fairisle knit from Brora.
A Moment for Connolly
Founded in 1878, Connolly is a 140 year old British brand which began as a small family business of saddlers and shoe-smiths. As the car industry grew, so too did Connolly, evolving as a globally renowned supplier of highly-finished leather goods.
Intrinsically connected with classic motor racing, Connolly has strong British roots, and their clothing often champions heritage pieces, silhouettes and patterns - ideal for The Traitors series!
It is safe to say we are a little obsessed with these tailored Black Watch Tartan trousers, slouchy grey crewneck knit and grey herringbone style trench coat, all from Connolly!
A Moment for Blazers
A wardrobe favourite year-round is a classic tailored blazer. From tweed numbers to contrast-piped dreams, this season of The Traitors has had it all! Revered for their clean lines and sleek tailoring, Winkleman donned a check patterned single-breasted blazer and white shirt from French brand The Kooples.
Whilst McKeefry chose Savile Row brand Knatchbull (previously The Deck London) for this edgy black blazer with contrast piping, paired with black skinny trouser and Bottega boots.
A Moment for Dresses
Dresses have largely been scarce this series of The Traitors, but when they have made an appearance, boy have they had impact! Whilst the hemlines have varied - from mini to maxi - the style definitely hasn't. We're looking at gothic black tones and a vampiric edge!
A go-to brand for this is of course, the cult favourite The Vampire's Wife. Founded by Susie Cave, the brand has since closed, however was well-loved for their vampy gowns and celebrity following - from Sienna Miller to Kate Middleton! In contrast black with white bow detailing, McKeefry chose this long sleeved mini dress for Winkleman, who paired the look with opaque tights and chunky Bottega boots.
It was in stark contrast to the Costarellos number chosen (above right). Athens based brand Costarellos take inspiration from ancient Greek architecture, and this black bustier lace dress, layered beneath a forest green Brora knit and Bella Freud Coat stole the show! In true Traitors fashion, it was worn with Hunter Wellies whilst Winkleman trailed through the 19th Century Estate's forest.
