Wimbledon 2024 - Summer Style Inspo
Summer Style Inspo and What We Would Wear to Wimbledon 2024
With Glastonbury all but a distant memory, all eyes are on SW19 for some fresh summer inspiration. That's right, Wimbledon 2024 is in full swing, serving up it's signature blend of intense rivalry, timeless elegance and some serious star-studded stands! Whilst the weather is leaving a lot to be desired, a little downpour certainly never stopped attendees from levelling up their courtside looks. We are in a post-Challengers era after all!
The History of Wimbledon
The oldest tennis tournament in the world, and regarded as the most prestigious, this years Wimbledon Championships will be the 137th staging, running from 1st - 14th July. Held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877, it is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments and the only major still played on grass.
Wimbledon traditions include a night-time curfew, a strict all-white dress code for competitors and Royal patronage. Advertising is also minimal and sponsorships are with official suppliers such as Rolex and Slazenger (a relationship which is classed as the world's longest running sponsorship).
Of course we cannot forget Strawberries and Cream - a tradition dating back to the tudors, spectators at Wimbledon consume over 23 tonnes of fresh strawberries and 7000 litres of cream over the two week tournament!
Essential Pre-Match Viewing
If we are honest, we don't really need any encouragement or preparation prior to the start of the Wimbledon Championships, however given the option, we certainly won't turn down the opportunity to view:
Wimbledon, 2004
The early 2000s rom-com starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany reminds us just how much we love an underdog story.
Starring Zendaya alongside The Crown's Josh O'Connor and West Side Story's Mike Faist, Challengers depicts the love triangle between an injured tennis star-turned-coach and the two player fighting for her affections.
Federer: 12 Final Days, 2024
An intimate portrait documenting the final 12 days of Roger Federer's illustrious career. Considered by many to be the best tennis player of all time, the film captures Federer as he prepares to say goodbye to a game that has shaped his life for the past two decades.
Style Inspiration from The Spectators
As is typically the case at Wimbledon, clean whites and minimal colours have been popular at this year's tournament. Furthermore, tailoring has proved popular with women and men alike opting for two and three pieces in the stands. Here are a couple of the looks we like so far, but we eagerly anticipate what the week ahead has in store!
